NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis

The New Zealand Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (Level 6) (NZDIA) is designed for analysts working in complex, dynamic environments across the intelligence sector. This nationally recognised qualification builds practical capability in core tradecraft, equipping graduates to produce strategic, operational, or tactical intelligence with confidence and integrity.

Whether in government or corporate roles, graduates will be prepared to lead, inform, and influence decision-makers through high-quality intelligence.

The diploma is structured around key phases of the intelligence cycle, and all learning is grounded in authentic workplace activity. Trainees complete a series of unit standards that build from foundational knowledge to the practical delivery of intelligence, using structured analytical techniques and case-based projects.

    Produce clear, well-scoped Terms of Reference for intelligence products and evaluate the full lifecycle of an intelligence project, from planning to impact • Integrate ISO 31000-aligned risk management processes, considering both controls and residual risk, into intelligence planning and delivery.
  3. Learn and understand the softer skills that support intelligence outcomes
    • Build and maintain productive relationships across agencies or sectors. • Understand how interoperability enhances intelligence outcomes. • Engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders, clients, and partners.
